On Friday, October 23, Woodbridge High School varsity football players celebrated a special Homecoming tradition, “My Inspiration Wears My Jersey,” recognizing the teachers and staff members who have made a positive impact on their lives.
As part of this meaningful tradition, each varsity football player selected a teacher or staff member who has motivated, encouraged, supported, or inspired them throughout their educational journey. Players presented their chosen staff members with their away football jerseys to wear during the school day and at the Homecoming game.
The tradition gives students a chance to show appreciation for the adults who have helped shape their experiences, both in and out of the classroom. For teachers and staff, wearing a player's jersey is a special way to show their support and celebrate the relationships they have built with students.
More than just a Homecoming activity, “My Inspiration Wears My Jersey” highlights the importance of positive connections between students and staff while strengthening school spirit and fostering a sense of belonging throughout the Woodbridge community.
This tradition reminds us that an educator's impact extends far beyond academics. Sometimes, the greatest victories happen off the field, through the encouragement, guidance, and support that help students succeed.
One Team. One Family. Always a Raider.
At Woodbridge, that's what it means to be Built Blue!
