The Woodbridge School District is seeking a Certificate of Necessity (CN) from the Delaware Department of Education for the construction of a new Woodbridge Middle School.

The proposed facility would serve grades 6–8 and be constructed on district-owned property adjacent to Woodbridge High School. The current middle school, with portions dating back to the 1930s, requires significant repairs to aging systems and infrastructure. Facility assessments determined that constructing a new school would be a more feasible long-term solution than extensive renovations.

A new facility would provide flexible learning spaces, updated infrastructure, and enhanced safety while supporting future student success. The Board of Education has approved submission of the CN request, an important step in Delaware’s capital improvement process.
