All State Band

The Delaware All-State Band, sponsored by the Delaware Music Educators Association (DMEA), is a prestigious, audition-based honor ensemble for middle (grades 7-9) and high school (grades 10-12) students. It offers top musicians the opportunity to perform under guest conductors after a rigorous selection process, usually culminating in concerts in early spring.

Students prepare a required piece of music and then travel to a location in the state and audition (blind) against students all over the state. They have to sing/play scales, their piece and they have to sight-read (play/sing a piece they’ve never seen before). If their score is high enough they get into the ensemble and then have a 2 day festival with a guest clinician and perform a concert the next night.

This year, we have two students who have been selected. Freshman Ruby Ramirez has been selected for All-State Junior Band in percussion and Junior Brooke Taylor has been selected for bass clarinet in the All-State Senior Band.
