Each month, students who have 90% or better attendance are entered into a drawing, and our winners are randomly selected from that group to receive a special token to our Book Vending Machine! There is nothing better than watching students “shop” for a brand-new book of their choice. 📖✨ Showing up matters, and these students are proving it! Congratulations to Abel for earning Honorable Mention in the Gallaudet University National Literacy Competition! 🎉

This year’s theme was “If you had a superpower, what would you do with it?” Abel was recognized in the Deaf Plus Elementary Storytelling category. We are so proud of his creativity and hard work! 💙👏

Our students absolutely crushed our Boosterthon fundraiser, and this week they celebrated in the best (and slimiest) way possible! 🟢🎉 Thanks to the incredible support of our families and community, Phillis Wheatley Elementary School raised over $17,000 to help reduce the cost of end-of-year field trips for our students. What an amazing accomplishment! As part of their reward, students earned the chance to slime Mr. Huber, Dr. Lybarger, and Mr. Pearson. But our Raiders didn’t just meet the goal—they exceeded it! Because of that, they unlocked the chance to slime three additional staff members: Mr. Starkey, Ms. Jones, and Mrs. Sears. The honor of doing the sliming went to our top six student fundraisers: Hannah, Ryan, Reese, Nicholas, Hayden, and Leo. They did an amazing job representing our school and definitely made the moment memorable! Thank you again to everyone who supported this fundraiser and helped make it such a success.🤍🩶💙

Our Respect Week is off to a fantastic start at Phillis Wheatley Elementary! 💙 On Monday, we kicked things off by celebrating inclusion at our Respect Week Pep Rally. Mrs. Raymond and our Project Unify Ambassadors shared powerful messages about why they choose to include others and helped introduce the exciting events planned for the week. Students also enjoyed a few fun games that highlighted our Special Olympics sports, giving everyone a chance to see teamwork and inclusion in action! We also learned that Mr. Barnes will be going Over the Edge for Special Olympics this year! On Tuesday, we celebrated Be You Day, where students and staff dressed in ways that represented who they are. It was wonderful to see so many unique personalities and styles shining throughout the building! Today, we continued spreading the message of inclusion by wearing our “Inclusion – The Bridge That Unites Us” t-shirts. Seeing our school community come together to support this important message has been incredible. We are so proud of our students and staff for embracing kindness, respect, and inclusion this week. 💙 #RespectWeek #ChooseInclusion #ProjectUnify

Dear Woodbridge School District Families and Staff, Due to widespread power outages and hazardous road conditions throughout our area, the Woodbridge School District will be closed for staff and students on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. We are excited for a fun and meaningful week as we celebrate Respect Week from March 2nd–March 6th! Each day will feature a different theme focused on inclusion, understanding, and celebrating ALL of our students.

From Go Blue to Include on Monday to Get-Out and Include on Friday, it’s going to be a week full of school spirit, kindness, and Raider pride! 💙

🚔💙 Happy National School Resource Officer / School Constable Day! 💙🚔 Today we celebrate and thank two incredible men who help make PWES a safe, welcoming place for our students and staff each and every day — Mr. Taulbee and Mr. Bean! Their presence in our building goes far beyond safety. They build relationships, offer guidance, share smiles and high-fives, and step in whenever we need them. Whether they’re helping solve problems, supporting students, or just checking in to say hello, they are a valued part of our school family. We are thrilled to share that we’ve officially reached our fundraising goal 🎉 — and that’s because of the generosity of our PWES families and community.
