Attention Phillis Wheatley Elementary Families,
Please take a moment to review the important information below regarding medications at school. Following these guidelines helps us ensure the health and safety of every student throughout the school day.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, we want to remind families of our school’s medication protocols. All medications—both prescription and over-the-counter—must be transported to the nurse by a responsible adult. Students are not permitted to carry medications in their bookbags, and all medications will be kept in the nurse’s office.
Any medication sent to school must be in its original container and not expired. Over-the-counter medications must remain in their original packaging, and prescription medications must include the pharmacy label with the child’s name, medication, and directions for administration. All refills must follow this same process.
In addition, families are required to complete the “Student Medication Permission to be Administered in School Consent Form” before any medication can be given at school. This form is mandated by the state, and failure to comply will result in your child not receiving the medication during the school day.
If you need to drop off medication, we recommend stopping by the office between 9:00–10:00 a.m. or 2:00–3:00 p.m. During these times, our school nurse, Mrs. Short, will meet families in the office to collect and process the medication.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment for all students.
