Woodbridge Early Childhood Education Center welcomed families for its ML Kindergarten Night on October 1, bringing together 17 multilingual learner kindergarten families—approximately 40–50 family members—for an evening of learning, resources, and connection.
The event began with an open house presentation before families visited several stations designed to help them support their children at home. Brooke Mitchell, Sarah Ramey, Leslie Riegle, and Michelle Lecates provided families with reading and math supplies, while Ricki Truitt offered technology support and assistance with educational apps. Julicia Escalante helped families access free school uniforms, and Michelle Cook from Sussex Tech shared information about the Family Literacy program. To ensure all families could fully participate, Virginia Jarrell and Stephanie Sharp provided interpretation services and additional support throughout the evening.
The event was made possible through grant funding WECEC received last year as a result of the school’s continued strong ML ACCESS scores. The funding allowed the school to provide resources and support that help strengthen the connection between home and school.
ML Kindergarten Night was a wonderful opportunity to welcome families, provide helpful tools, and continue building partnerships that support the success of WECEC’s youngest Blue Raiders.
