Phillis Wheatley Elementary School is celebrating a major accomplishment this week as its Special Olympians and their unified partners earned first place at the Special Olympics Soccer Tournament.
The team demonstrated outstanding determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the competition, ultimately bringing home the gold medal. Their hard work and commitment were evident on the field, as they supported one another and played with both skill and heart.
The Special Olympics program goes beyond athletic competition by fostering inclusion, building confidence, and creating meaningful connections among students. Through Unified Sports, students of all abilities come together as teammates, promoting respect, collaboration, and a strong sense of belonging.
PWES is incredibly proud of its athletes and unified partners for representing the school community with pride and excellence. Their success is a reflection of not only their athletic ability, but also the positive culture of inclusion and support that defines the school.
